Chaco Zine

Welcome to the official online zine launch!

This zine holds up-to-date information regarding the current political, physical and spiritual environment surrounding Chaco Canyon. This form of extractive colonialism is yet another example of how environmental racism continues to destroy life on Pueblo-Indigenous Land.

This educational information is available to download via google drive. We ask for our community to pass the knowledge by sharing this zine on any platform possible. Chaco will NEVER be "ruins".

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) are still pushing a Resource Management Plan Amendment Draft and Environmental Impact Statement to expand oil and gas productivity while Indigenous communities are fighting against COVID-19. Our Indigenous voices are needed at this time. There has been no meaningful tribal consultation or community outreach/engagement. The BLM and BIA are pushing forward with the Resource Management Plan Amendment (RMPA).

Here’s how to help and how to stay engaged: Visit Protectgreaterchaco.org to submit your public comment before September 25th, 2020.

Tell them to suspend the RMPA/EIS process! We are in the middle of a global pandemic! Our Indigenous communities have had to shift our capacity to address community protection against the virus and have been severely impacted due to lack of resources and infrastructure.
