International Indigenous Solidarity - Landless Workers Movement

Pueblo Action Alliance believes that community is building unity amongst Pueblo Territory and beyond. Through building unity we also invest in learning about the Indigenous Global Struggle. In solidarity, it is imperative we note colonialism is not unique to this land base and it isn’t a thing of the past. European settlers have been displacing Indigenous Peoples around the world before they stole land in what is the so called U.S. Empire. Indigenous Peoples have been stripped of their lands on a global level. Genocides exist in the violent colonial histories but they continue today. When we commit to International Indigenous solidarity we support the struggles of other Indigenous Peoples which strengthens the revolutionary path for liberation from colonial structures.

"It’s been 3 years since I traveled to Brazil to participate in an International Political Education Course with the Landless Workers Movement, Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST) in Portuguese. The MST is a mass social movement, formed by the working class peoples and all those who want to fight for land reform and against injustice and social inequality in rural areas. The course included 79 participants who represented 26 countries and 51 organizations, who are in the struggle against oppressive systems in their communities. This was a brand new path for me, as I had never studied abroad, therefore I accepted this opportunity to learn about other working class peoples. I understood how important it was to share the history, knowledge and truths of our people as a Pueblo Matriarch but also an Indigenous person." - Reyes DeVore, Pueblo Action Alliance

The Guarani-Kaiowa Peoples Struggle

The Guarani-Kaiowa Peoples are currently facing mass evictions from the genocidal politics of the Brazilian government. Bolsonaro, who is blatantly racist against Indigenous Peoples of Brazil, is pushing a “Temporal Framework” which is a judgement for the reclamation of land to Indigenous Peoples, but is only granted with documentation stating they were occupying the land before 1988. The “Temporal Framework” is being processed again in the National Congress and the Supreme Federal Court will make the final judgement on October 28th. The outcome, whether in favor of our relatives or not, will cause great harm. You can find a statement from one of our Indigenous Sisters, Jaque Aranduhá below. Transcribed Portuguese to English by: Felipe Adolfo Souza França, Social Sciences Student from Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD).

Words from our Relative - Jaque Aranduhá

"Hello dear, good evening. I’m Jaqueline Aranduhá from the Guarani Kaiowa people, I’m a member of the native women organization Kuñangue Aty Guasu. I’d like to thank for the masks you sent us, we are already delivering them to the elder women, to the traditional midwives and to the women in our communities. In this moment we find ourselves in an extremely difficult time, where the military are taking all of our achievements, coronels are taking over all of the governmental indigenous institutions that are connected to the native communities." - Jaque Aranduhá
