Pueblo Youth Revolt: Celebrating 341 Years of Resistance

Pueblo Youth Statement:

As Pueblo Youth, we bear testament that the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 never ended. We acknowledge that as descendants of Pueblo revolutionaries and powerful matriarchs, the resistance and power instilled in our ancestors to sustain our cultural lifeways have been passed down to us.

We understand that as Pueblo Youth it is our responsibility to protect our Earth Mother, language, cultural ways and water not only for our community today but for future generations as well.

With the same resistance of our ancestors, our commitment to protecting our communities continues through advocating for environmental justice, community defense, Land Back, Water Back, and the protection of sacred sites. Because these issues are interconnected, the fight to protect all of these aspects collectively is crucial; we cannot have one without the other.

As Pueblo Youth we imagine a radical future where Black, Indigenous and Women/People of Color, LGBTQIA and Two Spirit Relatives are liberated. We want to end the cycles of generational trauma and live in a world where we can thrive, free of oppression.

Pueblo Youth matter, what we have to say matters and it’s critical that our communities as well as allies listen to us. Radical change can only take place when we are in collective solidarity.

We hope that you join us in this celebration of honoring our ancestors and their resistance while also recognizing that our fight for liberation continues today.

In Solidarity,

Pueblo Youth Interns
